There Is No Single Right Answer—Start With Your Scenario

I coordinate emergency refrigeration parts and service for a commercial HVAC/R distributor. Scenario A: Refrigeration Is Down Now—Product at Risk

This is the emergency. In March 2024, a grocery client called at 6:40 a.m. needing a replacement Embraco 1 3 hp compressor for a reach-in freezer before a health inspection at 2 p.m. Normal turnaround from our regular warehouse was three days. One more thing: legacy advice can mislead you. This was true 15 years ago when local wholesalers held all the stock and you had to drive across town. Today, a well-organized distributor can drop-ship from a regional hub overnight. That said, not every emergency can be solved remotely.
