About Embraco Compressor Engineering

Two decades of compressor engineering expertise, driven by a commitment to documented performance, verified efficiency, and long-term technical partnership.

Engineering Heritage

Founded in 2004 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Embraco began as a specialized compressor engineering workshop serving the Southeast United States food processing industry. Our three founding engineers brought a combined 45 years of experience from major OEM compressor programs at Copeland and Tecumseh, with a shared conviction that the industry needed a supplier willing to publish verified performance data rather than marketing specifications.

In 2008, Embraco opened its first dedicated scroll compressor production line, achieving AHRI certification for the initial EM-S series within 18 months. By 2012, the company had expanded to three manufacturing facilities — Charlotte (headquarters and scroll production), Monterrey, Mexico (hermetic and semi-hermetic lines), and Wroclaw, Poland (European distribution and screw compressor assembly). The Wroclaw facility received ISO 9001 certification in Q3 2013 and added ISO 14001 in 2016.

The 2018 launch of our R-290 scroll compressor platform — developed over a 30-month R&D cycle with $4.2 million in dedicated testing infrastructure — marked Embraco's entry into natural refrigerant systems ahead of the EU F-Gas Regulation phase-down milestones. Today, our 65-member R&D team holds 42 patents spanning scroll geometry optimization, VFD harmonic management, and low-GWP refrigerant charge reduction techniques.

With an annual production capacity of 7,500 compressor units, 20 service centers across 48 countries, and 550 employees worldwide, Embraco serves system integrators, OEM equipment manufacturers, and end-user facility operators across food processing, pharmaceutical cold chain, commercial foodservice, data center cooling, and industrial process applications.

Our Engineering Principles

Verified Performance

Every specification we publish is backed by AHRI-certified test data. We do not extrapolate from theoretical models — our performance curves reflect actual calorimeter measurements.

Application Depth

We do not sell compressors in isolation. Our application engineering team works with your system design to optimize compressor selection for your specific operating envelope and duty profile.

Refrigerant Responsibility

We invest heavily in low-GWP refrigerant platforms because regulatory compliance is not optional. Our R-290, R-744, and HFO compressor lines are ready for deployment, not on a future roadmap.

OEM Partnership

Our OEM customers receive dedicated application engineers, co-development resources, and priority production scheduling. We succeed when your equipment succeeds in the field.

Service Continuity

With 20 service centers worldwide and a 4-hour emergency response target, our field teams work to keep your refrigeration systems operational. Downtime costs are measured in product loss, not just hours.

Continuous Improvement

Our 65-engineer R&D team publishes peer-reviewed research on scroll efficiency, VFD harmonics management, and natural refrigerant charge optimization. Technical leadership requires continuous investment.
